CCCD Testimonies :: Workers
Our Testimony by Terry and Bev Miller
Since our first trip to Kingston in 1996, we've become addicted to their campus. The end of March, 2007, was the 10th team we've led to CCCD Kingston, our 14th trip to Jamaica working with CCCD. The point we wish to make is this, many of the children at Kingston Campus we've watched grow up from little kids running around, fussing and picking on each other, to young men and women who are very respectful, knowledgeable, and prepared for their next step in life. Almost all have become Christians, and are ready to "Stand up for Jesus". This didn't just happen. It was with much prayer, and loving tutoring from a very devoted group of people. We wish to commend Maria Lawrence, and her entire staff, for their love and devotion to the Deaf Children, and ask our Lord to continue to bless their efforts, and the entire staff of CCCD.
Sincerely in Love,
Terry and Bev Miller, Venice Fla, (representing the Apostolic Christian Work Relief)
I was so thankful that I was able to go to Montego Bay this summer, and help work at the CCCD there. It was amazing to see so many things get done that week. Between work, prayers being answered, and meeting new friends and strengthening the current friendships I had. I really hope that I will be able to go back someday and see the progress on the things that I helped work on. May God bless you in all that you do. In Christ, ~Shannon
Thank you for allowing us to come and work at the Kingston campus. Last year I took 9 of us to work the week of graduation. Being the only interpreter on the trip, it made for a little challenge. I believe the team truly was touched, especially when they saw that doing the little things in life meant a lot for them. My greatest moment was the night the students sang to us in signs. There were no dry eyes from my team, and the cards that they work on for us touched each member of my team. God Bless you all and we look forward to seeing you in a few months. I can't tell you what a tremendous impact seeing the Knockpatrick school and the children there has had on me. I wish we had been able to spend more than a week there. My S.S. class asked me to share a little with them yesterday about the trip and I told them I wished they all could have been there. It is a life-changing experience and I'm so glad I was able to go. I've heard Tom and Janie talk about it for many years and I've seen their pictures from previous trips, but it isn't the same until you experience it yourself. I can't wait to go back. I can't say enough about all the good things I experienced all week. I'm thinking this may become an annual event for me. Please send me information about sponsoring two of the children I met there. I can not begin to express how greatly I was affected by our team's (Johnston Chapel-Princeton, WV) week at the Knockpatrick campus. Being an interpreter for the deaf ministry at our church and teaching beginning sign language classes has always made me interested in CCCD. We were all amazed at how you take a young child who is like a blank wall and teach them communication skills and then advance them through vocational training. We enjoyed every aspect of the trip and were very pleased to be able to help repair the classrooms after Ivan's damage, but interacting with the children was the highlight of the week. I look at the pictures we took every day and think of what a wonderful ministry you have. We truly hope to return again and bring a bigger team with us next time. Thank you and keep up the good work.
