What is Hands in Praise?
If you have ever seen someone sign a song, you were probably touched by the beauty of the music made visible. When it is a song of praise or adoration to our Savior, the beauty is multiplied. This experience is further enhanced by seeing our great God praised and adored by the hands and hearts of the deaf students from CCCD's three schools.
As the ministry has grown, CCCD has sought to bring greater awareness to others who also may want to help make a difference in the lives of deaf children in Jamaica. The Hands in Praise Team was organized in 1982 to allow people to know about CCCD's deaf children and their ability. Today, this team from our Knockpatrick, Kingston and Montego Bay campuses consists of students and graduates who exemplify the character of Christ in their daily lives. Traveling where opportunity invites, deaf students present the Gospel in churches, schools, and colleges. A typical presentation includes signing to taped music, sharing personal testimonies, and presenting short dramas. Their dedication and commitment is an inspiration to all that see them.
Over the last few years, the response to the Hands in Praise ministry team has been tremendous. Because of the response, Hands in Praise makes at least two trips a year to the U.S. The group has also ministered in the Island of Grand Cayman and in England. Specific goals of each trip are first and foremost, to bring glory to God; to be a blessing to those with whom they share, especially to those who have been giving to and praying for CCCD; to provide a greater visibility for the mission work of CCCD; and to raise financial assistance for the ministry.
