Why Sponsor?Jamaica has hundreds of deaf children who have never heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The majority of their parents cannot afford to send them to school. Sadly, some parents believe their deaf child will never achieve anything in life and that it would be wasteful to spend their scarce resources on schooling. However, through the grace of God and loving contributions, there is an island of hope for these precious young souls-the schools of the Caribbean Christian Centre for the Deaf. Ultimately, CCCD trusts in God to use its efforts to lead the children to Jesus Christ as their Savior and Lord. How To Sponsor?The cost of sponsoring a child is $25 a month per sponsor; ideally, each child will have a total of ten sponsors. The actual monthly cost of a child at a CCCD residential school campus is greater than the monthly cost of sponsoring a child. The Lord makes up the difference through general contributions. Sponsors assist CCCD with the child's clothing, medical care, food, housing, training and education. A sponsor is a special friend to a deaf child living at CCCD and will receive that child's picture and biographical information. This enables the sponsor to get to know the child. We request that all our sponsors pray for their children regularly. The prayer is even more important than the financial contribution as we know that without constant prayer, CCCD would cease to operate effectively. Correspondence between sponsors and children is encouraged. The sponsors receive letters, cards and/or pictures from their children several times a year. A tax deductible receipt will be issued for every contribution. CCCD encourages individuals, Sunday School classes, youth groups, single groups and others to sponsor a deaf student. Sponsorship provides direct involvement with the mission field through contact with the people, sharing one's blessing in meeting needs and giving opportunities which otherwise may not be met in a child's life.
